UNIT - II

Components & Elements:

S-parameters; Joint, bends, Irise and screws, short- circuit, Attenuator; Cavity resonators (Cylindrical and rectangular), Frequency meter; Hybrid couplers, Magic Tree; Faraday's rotation, Circulator, Phase shifter.

Microwave Tubes:

Klystron Amplifier, Reflex- Klystron; Magnetron (cylindrical); Overview of TWT, CFA.

UNIT - III

M/W Solid – state Device & MICS:

6.1 M/W Bipolar Transistor; M/W FET; Varactor and Step –Recovery Diodes; pin Diode, Schottky Diode; Parametric Amplifiers; Tunnel Diode , Gunn Diode; Read Diode ,Impatt, Trapatt; Introduction to MIC, Stripline and Microstrips; Introduction to fabrication of MICs;

UNIT - IV

Introduction to Microwave Detectors, Mixers, Switches
Microwave Measurements (Measurements of frequency, power, attenuation, phase shift, VSWR, impedance)
Introduction to Microwave filters.

Introduction to Radar:

Radar range equation; Overview of pulsed radar; Overview of CW Doppler Radar; Overview of MTI radar.
